Rain is isolating, insulating

Today it rains through my entire day off. At home, I am swamped in
chores, papers to push and pull, envelopes to lick and stamps to
stick. Outside at last, no people here. I am in the company of cars.
And, without wanting to, they are isolating me and insulating me at
the same time.
